ZHRO Protest Thoughts - on the 17th June 2025 Outside the Flair Summit VenueI travelled to London to demonstrate against the first lady of Zimbabwe's intention to visit the free world at the expense of the impoverished Zimbabwean citizens. I lost my property and loved ones to Zanu PF thugs and feel the Zimbabwean regime should be isolated by the international due to the atrocities they continue to inflict on innocent Zimbabweans. Myself as, Lydia Makombe’s presence, representing four generations, underscores the enduring trauma of ZANU-PF’s actions.

Zimbabwean Diaspora Protest at FLAIR Summit in London (June 17–18, 2025)On the 17th of June 2025, as Zimbabweans activists based in the United Kingdom ,we had a peaceful protest against Auxillia Mnangagwa (first lady of Zimbabwe). The protest started on social media were we could post on our social media platforms like X, and having some zoom meetings. Also a petition was filled on the 4th of June 2025, were we wanted Auxillia Mnangagwa to be denied entry in the UK because of her part in the regime and corruption. On the 17th we gathered outside Leonardo Royal Hotel London Tower Bridge. Speeches were said we sang and danced against her part in the human rights abuses, child abuse, health crisis, child marriages and more. The protest highlighted a huge message to all and the protest was a success as Auxillia Mnangagwa ddnt show up for the Flair Summit. We will not stop until they do the right thing and stop rigging the votes. I say No to Auxillia Mnangagwa attending any Flair Summit because she doesn’t care about woman, girl child or any one. We want a better Zimbabwe were we can have freedom of speech without fearing the regime (ZanuPf). Woman die everyday giving birth, no medications in hospitals no proper school for children no help is given to girl child, so why can she preach about woman empowerment while she is not doing that.We say no to ZanuPf |

It was a great pleasure to be present at the effective demo on June 17, 2025, at the Leonardo Royal Hotel in London. We demonstrated outside the Flair Summit to prevent Auxillia Mnangangwa from giving a speech there. “The organizer’s decision to invite her to the summit appears to be yet another attempt at a money-making scheme.” Her participation did not correspond with the summit goals. For not turning up for the Summit, Auxillia did herself a favour by not making a joke of herself, as she usually does. The Zanu-Pf government, which is led by her husband, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, is notorious for corruption, electoral fraud, and violations of human rights. Auxillia and her sons are well known for lavishly spending on the tax payers’ money. Though she holds the title of a first lady or mother of the nation, she turns a blind eye to the fight for women rights. Zimbabwe continues to face significant obstacles in reducing poverty, ensuring access to healthcare, and promoting gender equality under her husband’s leadership. If the summit’s goal had been to address key global concerns, her attendance could have drawn attention away from positive conversation and towards Zimbabwe’s political controversies. Auxillia’s close ties to Zimbabwe’s disputed leadership make her a toxic figure. The fight against the oppressive and dictatorial government of Mnangangwa and his associates continues until change becomes inevitable in Zimbabwe. |

As an activist, I say: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. This was a victory for the Zimbabwean people, especially those who continue to suffer under a regime that has failed to deliver basic human rights. As First Lady, Auxillia should lead by example—but as activists, we refuse to allow performative representation while citizens endure:
Inside the FLAIR Summit, I was privileged to sit and listen to real First Ladies who addressed critical issues such as education, healthcare, and youth development among others—issues Zimbabwe continues to neglect. It was evident that Auxillia had no place among those actively working to uplift their nations. This action was not just a protest; it was the beginning of a broader movement. The struggle continues. We demand action, accountability, real leadership, urgent reform and dignity for all. Zimbabwe deserves real leadership — not staged appearances. |

OUR ZIMBABWE, OUR VOICE, OUR FIGHT On Zimbabwe’s Independence Day, we stood in solidarity, first at the Zimbabwean Embassy, then at No.10 Downing Street, demanding justice, electoral reforms, and the release of political prisoners like Blessed Mhlanga. We marched with purpose, not just for ourselves, but for every Zimbabwean silenced, displaced, or betrayed. To the ZANU PF government: What have you done with 45 years in power? Where are the jobs? Where are the hospitals? Where are the schools? Why are our youth scattered across the world in search of survival? Why are our elderly dying without dignity? Why are those who speak out being jailed while the corrupt live in luxury? Then came June 17th. We showed up, bold, united, and ready to be heard. But Auxillia Mnangagwa didn’t. Maybe her seat was quietly exchanged with another First Lady, or maybe she chose silence. Either way, she didn’t speak. We did. Loudly. Bravely. And in her silence, we found power. On the 18th, she sent her ambassador Katsande to say she wasn’t coming, and honestly, that was a win. She calls herself a mother of the nation, but what kind of mother is afraid of her children's questions? What kind of mother turns her back on the cries of the suffering? What kind of mother chooses polished stages over raw truth? We came in peace, we came in strength, and we came with truth. The struggle for a free and fair Zimbabwe continues, and we are no longer afraid. |

17th June 2025 - Protest at the FLAIR Summit , Boycott victory’s Against Auxillia Mnangagwa On 17 June, I proudly stood alongside fellow Zimbabwean activists at a protest outside the FLAIR Summit in London to call for the removal of Auxillia Mnangagwa as a featured speaker. Through our collective efforts both on the ground and across Twitter Spaces, we achieved a significant and symbolic victory. The pressure we mounted led to Auxillia Mnangagwa being forced to withdraw from the summit. This protest was not simply about one individual. Auxillia Mnangagwa is emblematic of a corrupt political dynasty. Together with her husband, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, and their sons, she forms part of a criminal network responsible for looting Zimbabwe on an industrial scale. Their regime has overseen widespread human rights violations, the suppression of dissent, economic destruction, and the exploitation of national resources for personal gain. The Mnangagwas live in luxury while the people of Zimbabwe endure poverty, hunger, and daily hardship. Hospitals are without medicines, civil servants go unpaid, and the youth face a future without opportunity, all while the regime continues to enrich itself through dirty mining deals, patronage, and intimidation. Our protest sent a very clear message, oppressors should not be celebrated or platformed on global stages. By taking action, we affirmed that the people of Zimbabwe will not be silenced, even when their voices are ignored at home. This victory is just one step in a much larger struggle. We will continue to speak out, organise, and demand accountability until justice and democracy is restored in Zimbabwe. |

Auxilia Mnangagwa failed visit to the United Kingdom - We call it mission accomplished. Weeks before the intended visit of Auxilia Mnangagwa to the United Kingdom under the disguise of the FLAIR summit human rights activists in United Kingdom gathered and agreed that the visit must be stopped. The reason for stopping the visit was because of the non compliance of Auxilia to the ethos the summit. The protesters wrote to the organisers of the summit why Auxilia was not the rightful candidate for such a summit. Letters were also written to the parliamentarians who were scheduled to share the podium with Auxilia. The messages were to let them know who truly Auxilia is. Auxilia is an accomplice of her husband in corruption and laundering of Zimbabwe minerals and is the architect of the dictatorship and suppression of voices of reason in Zimbabwe and hence the reason they are on UN sanction list. A petition was delivered to the PM on the 4th of June. The petition stated clearly why Auxilia should not be allowed to come to the United Kingdom. I was part of the team that handed over the petition. A few days before the summit a space was held on twitter and activists shared their views on why Auxilia must not be allowed entry to the UK for the summit. I was part of the speakers on the space. On the 17th of June the day Auxilia was supposed to present her speech, activists gathered at Leonardo Hotel, the summit venue, singing and chanting slogans. I personally gave a speech and was singing and dancing with the group of activists. Auxilia does not stand for the general populace but for herself and family and friends. We all celebrated her failure to attend and we were happy that she listened to the people and she now knows that people know her for who she is. When people come together and make constructive noise even dictators must listen we will continue to speak out for the oppressed people in Zimbabwe who are not allowed to speak!! |

Part of His Speech at the Event - now available at he ZHRO - 45 Section Website Good morning ladies and gentlemen, Today we gather here not out of hatred or personal vendetta, but as concerned citizens, as members of the global Zimbabwean community, and above all, as defenders of justice, accountability, and human dignity. We stand here united in our collective call: Let us stop the First Lady of Zimbabwe, Auxillia Mnangagwa, from attending the F.L.A.I.R Summit. Auxillia Mnangagwa should not be allowed to participate in a summit that claims to represent women’s leadership, innovation, and integrity, while she remains complicit—directly or indirectly—in the ongoing human rights abuses, governance failures, and systemic injustices occurring in Zimbabwe under her watch. |

The recent announcement that Zimbabwean First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa was barred from attending the FLAIR Summit in the United Kingdom, hailed by protesting diaspora groups as "Mission Accomplished," represents far more than a simple travel hiccup or diplomatic snub. It is a potent symbol of shifting dynamics in international engagement, the growing power of diaspora activism, and the inescapable weight of political baggage carried by representatives of contested regimes. This exclusion, secured through persistent protest, underscores a refusal to grant legitimacy on the global stage without accountability. The implications of this barring are significant. For the Zimbabwean diaspora, it is a rare and hard-won victory. Living far from home, often deeply affected by the conditions that drove them abroad, they frequently feel powerless to influence events in Harare. This successful intervention demonstrates their capacity to act as transnational watchdogs, holding their home government accountable on foreign soil and denying it the legitimacy conferred by prestigious international platforms. It empowers them and signals to the Mnangagwa regime that its actions have consequences beyond its borders. I was present at the Flair Summit Protest, and I’m proud to have taken part in this important stand. One thing I truly believe is that it was a good thing that Auxillia Mnangagwa didn’t show up — because she is not a symbol of women’s empowerment. Her actions and silence in the face of so much suffering speak louder than any speech she could have given .We must stop being misled. People need to open their eyes and see what ZANU PF is doing to our country. While they pretend to care, they are destroying the lives of ordinary Zimbabweans — slowly, but surely. It’s time for the truth to come out. It’s time for the people, both at home and in the diaspora, to stop being blinded by empty gestures and political propaganda. Real empowerment comes from honesty, accountability, and justice — none of which we’re seeing from those in power. Let’s keep raising our voices until we see real change. |
