AuxillaFLACID - [First Ladies of Africa's Criminally Insane Dictators]

A spoof on the Flair Summit with Ms Auxilla1 Mnangagwa, Wife and 'First Lady' of the ruthless dictator, Dr(?) Emmerson 'Dumbo' Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe2. But, check out the Flair Summit Early Bird Ticket Prices3

BREAKING: 8th May 2025: Some initial checking has confirmed one of the speakers HAS NOT given permission and is NOT speaking at this event - more to follow/

Further breaking: we recorded Dr Oxilla Mnangagwa rehearsing the speech for London, in June in a local hospital ward this evening

Whilst we acknowledge the aspirational attributes of this innovative campaign [Flair Summit], the inclusion of Auxilla as "Patron Elect" {indicating some form of sponsorship or payment for this position}, has damned the event as a Dictators Wive's Club! Take note organisers, you have made a profound error of judgement.

Dictatorships and First Ladies

As of 2025, identifying the exact number of dictatorships in Africa is complex due to varying definitions of "dictatorship" and the dynamic nature of political regimes. Based on available data, particularly from sources like Freedom House and World Population Review, approximately 22 African nations are classified as "Not Free," indicating authoritarian regimes where a single leader or party holds absolute power, often suppressing political freedoms and civil rights. These regimes are commonly associated with dictatorship characteristics, such as repression of opposition, limited press freedom, and prolonged leadership tenures. However, this number can fluctuate due to coups, elections, or transitions, and some countries may be hybrid regimes with partial democratic elements.

Below is a list of African countries identified as having authoritarian regimes (based on recent data) and, where information is available, the names of their "First Ladies" or equivalent figures. Note that not all countries explicitly designate a "First Lady," and in some cases, the leader’s spouse may not be publicly prominent or documented. Additionally, some leaders may not be married, or their spouses’ identities may not be widely reported due to the secretive nature of certain regimes. If no "First Lady" is listed, it reflects a lack of accessible information or relevance in the public domain.

African Countries with Authoritarian Regimes and Their First Ladies (where known):

  • Algeria - No prominent "First Lady" documented; President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s spouse is not publicly highlighted.
  • Angola - Ana Dias Lourenço, wife of President João Lourenço.
  • Burkina Faso - No "First Lady" prominently documented; military junta led by Captain Ibrahim Traoré since 2022.

Oxilla MnangagwaBreaking: Stop the Presses.

We have been lucky enough to catch Dr Oxilla Mnangagwa, rehearsing her speech that will be delivered at the Flair Summit on 17-18th June 2025, at the Leonardo Royal Hotel in London, England

This is what she had to say at a typical hospital ward in Zimbabwe:

Speech by Her Excellency, Dr. Oxilla Mnangagwa, First Lady of Zimbabwe, at the FLAIR SUMMIT: Empowering Women, Impact & Resilience London, June 2025

"Esteemed guests, distinguished delegates, and champions of women’s empowerment, it is with great pride that I stand before you today at the FLAIR SUMMIT to share Zimbabwe’s remarkable strides in uplifting women and transforming maternal healthcare. Our nation, under the visionary leadership of my beloved husband, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, is a beacon of progress, a shining example of resilience and empowerment. Or so I was meant to say. Allow me to speak plainly, for the truth has a way of slipping through the cracks, even in the most polished of scripts."

"When I was invited to lecture on “Empowering Women, Impact & Resilience,” I thought it fitting to reflect on the reality faced by Zimbabwean women, particularly in maternal healthcare. You see, in Zimbabwe, we boast of progress, yet our maternity wards tell a different story. Our maternal mortality ratio, as of recent estimates, hovers around 462 deaths per 100,000 live births. That’s not a statistic to celebrate—it’s a tragedy. For every 100,000 women who dare to bring life into this world, nearly 500 will not survive to see their child grow. Compare this to Western Europe’s mere 5 deaths per 100,000, and you begin to see the chasm we face."

"Our healthcare system, once a jewel in Africa’s crown, is now a shadow of its former self. Hospitals like Parirenyatwa and Mpilo, our largest, operate with outdated equipment and chronic shortages. Radiotherapy machines for cancer patients are broken, surgical tools are relics, and entire wards lie abandoned because nothing works. In maternity units, women arrive hoping for care, only to find no beds, no drugs, and sometimes no staff. At Harare’s biggest hospital, there’s a single maternity theatre—built in 1977, before our independence—serving a population that’s doubled since then. Every year, 2,500 women die giving birth, not because childbirth is inherently deadly, but because we’ve failed to provide the basics: theatres, midwives, medicines."

  • Who is Auxilla?
Auxilla EDAuxilla Background and Profile: Key Points
  • Research suggests Auxilla Mnangagwa's "Empowered, Impactful, and Resilient" label is based on initiatives like the Angel of Hope Foundation, focusing on women's empowerment and health.
  • It seems likely her CIO background and family's dynastic ambitions may influence perceptions of her genuineness, with controversy around political motives.
  • The evidence leans toward her initiatives having benefits, but critics question if they serve regime image rather than true altruism.
Background and Rise to Prominence

Auxilla Mnangagwa, born on March 25, 1963, in Mazowe District, Mashonaland Central, Zimbabwe, grew up in Chiweshe and completed her education locally before pursuing secretarial studies at Silveira House in Chishawasha. She joined the Ministry of Manpower and Development in 1981 and later worked in the Prime Minister's office from 1992. Her alleged involvement with the Central Intelligence Organization (CIO) until 1997, including reports of providing information to Robert Mugabe about her husband, Emmerson Mnangagwa, while working as a security officer at the Sheraton Hotel, has been controversial, though she denies these claims (Wikipedia). She pursued further studies in Environment and Tourism at the University of Zimbabwe and Hotel and Tourism Administration in Switzerland, graduating in 2001. Her political career within ZANU-PF, including rising to the politburo and serving as a Member of Parliament for Chirumanzu-Zibagwe from 2015 to 2018, underscores her deep ties to the ruling party.

Initiatives and Public Image

As First Lady since 2017, Auxilla has launched initiatives through the Angel of Hope Foundation, focusing on empowering vulnerable communities, including marginalized groups like the San people and the Doma community. Her efforts include donating food, medical equipment, and stationery, and promoting self-help projects like fishponds and nutrition gardens (OAFLAD). She has also been involved in women's empowerment, setting up women's banks and hosting events like a "bush dinner" for businesswomen, and cultural preservation through the Gota/Nhanga/Ixhiba program. Recognized internationally, she is Vice President of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) and has received awards like the 2023 Global Education Leadership Award (Zw News).

The hosting of Zimbabwe’s First Lady, Auxillia Mnangagwa, at a London summit this June is a big insult to millions of Zimbabweans who are suffering everyday under the rule of her husband Emmerson Mnangagwa. His government is known for human rights abuses, including jailing journalists like Blessed Mhlanga for merely doing his job, and brutaly crushing opposition and silencing voices of ordinary people.

It is painful to see that while ordinary Zimbabweans are living in poverty and fear, the Mnangagwa family are being welcomed on big international platforms. This summit is giving wrong respect to a regime that has destroyed the lives of so many people.Meanwhile hospitals in Zimbabwe are collapsing. People are dying in hospitals because there is no medicines, no working machines, no water in some places. Patients are told to bring their own bandages, gloves and even drips. Instead of staying home and helping fix this disaster, Auxillia Mnangagwa is wasting resources to attend a summit on topics like leadership and innovation, things she knows nothing about. She is only there for photo opportunities to try and look good to the world.

While our children are learning under trees and women giving birth on dirty hospitals floors, she is busy travelling and enjoying red carpet treatments. It is a shame.British MPs attending this summit must not keep quiet. They have a duty to ask serious questions about why she is even there, and to speak up for the people of Zimbabwe who are suffering everyday. To just smile and welcome her is to support oppression and suffering.

Another big concern is that the summit is charging very expensive tickets — £590 up to £1,740 per person. For VIP's it's pure extortion - £11,800 for 10 places at the Gala Dinner! It is fair to ask if this event is not being used to launder stolen money from Zimbabwe. With all the coruption going on back home, this kind of event must be accorded all the suspicious scrutiny it deserves.Zimbabweans do not need photo shoots and empty speeches. We need real support from the world to end the suffering caused by the Mnangagwa regime.
