Auxillia, a Staunch Mnangagwa Regime Enabler
She wants the world to think that she is a humble and a first lady with a difference. She is not. In fact humility is not one of her virtues and she is no different. When it comes to first ladies, Zimbabwe has not been so lucky.
After the demise of the affable Ghanaian Sally Mugabe, who many believed was instrumental in reigning-in her husband, Zimbabwe has not been able to produce loving and caring first ladies. Not that we had many of them. The two recent ones in the form of Grace Mugabe and Auxilia Mnangagwa have been the proverbial bad apples that have become notorious for their insatiable proclivities – the unbridled love for money and power. They have both taken advantage of their ailing husbands to further their political ambitions instead of advising them to quit when they should.
When we thought we had seen the worst in Grace, aptly nicknamed ‘Gucci’ for her love of the finer things of life at the expense of the poor citizens, enters Auxilia. She obviously learnt nothing from Grace other than envy her just like her husband Emerson learnt nothing from Mugabe other than wanting to be like him. He became a worse version.
Auxilia is the brains behind the family’s gravy train, corruptly amassing wealth from the country’s resources and tenders that they give to her children and family cronies for kickbacks. She quickly showed her colours, ascending into a de facto president as the husband visibly wears off due to rumoured vascular dementia. She is also the brains behind the infamous Agenda 2030 to keep her husband in power whilst grooming her sons to take over, true to dictatorship scripts.
Ensconced at Precabe Farm, in Kwekwe, the parallel regime headquarters, she continues to issue orders with or without the knowledge of her husband. Signatures are being forged, military commanders are being reshuffled at her behest and her soldier son, Sean’s bidding. Some are being fired, others demoted or promoted. Decisions on who should die or spared, and who should run the opposition parties are taken under the watchful eye of the ‘innocent’ Auxilia.
Opposition members are being literally ‘bought’ for a few thousands of dollars and housing stands to ditch the electorate who put them into parliament in order to keep Mnangagwa in power, forever, beyond his constitutional mandate. She has become so feared in Zanu PF and Zimbabwe politics. She is presiding over the decadence of Zimbabwe’s political and socio-economic order.
It is therefore ironic that she wants to visit the UK, itself a doyen of democracy, whilst Zimbabwe is burning, whilst opposition voices and journalists are languishing in prisons, whilst school going children are not going to school, whilst, patients die in hospitals because there are no medicines. Most citizens are wallowing in poverty.
Only recently, children of one of the most popular opposition activist commonly known as Madzibaba were attacked by Zanu PF at their home, their bodies visibly mutilated and savagely cut by sharp objects. Their crime was being children of an opposition supporter. One of Madzibaba ve Shanduko’s children brutally attacked by Zanu PF activists
Mnangagwa continues to dismantle democracy and opposition movements and create his own versions of the opposition parties and figures who are pro Zanu PF. He envies how Russia treats its opposition.
Therefore, Auxilia’s UK visit is one of the regime’s public relations stunt to show their docile supporters that London and the world embraces them. They use such conferences to cleanse their bad boy images and as shopping expeditions. They use the summits to take a break and enjoy the life they deny their citizens who are in dire situations.
Auxilia has no business coming to the UK apart from exporting the murderous regimes’ corrupt, dirty and bloody politics, a far cry from the democracy we seek.
